Tootsie The Musical Comedy

From the Clayton Theatre Company:

 “Tootsie” the Musical

Clayton Theatre Company celebrates its 14th season with “Tootsie” the musical, running Oct. 17-19, 23-26 at Endeavor Hall 6008 Center St. in Clayton.

The musical is based on the 1982 film of the same name but takes place in the present day. The musical tells the story of a talented but volatile actor whose reputation for being difficult forces him to adopt a new identity as a woman in order to land a job. “Tootsie” makes an honest effort to recognize and support the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements despite the plot’s inherent misalignment and humorous storyline. “Tootsie” won two Tony Awards in 2020 for Best Book of a Musical and Best Performance of a Leading Actor in a musical. It also received numerous awards from the Outer Critics Circle Awards, Drama Desk Awards and NY Drama Critics Circle Awards.

“Tootsie” is a brilliant mix of comedy, heart and Broadway flair with a laugh-out-loud story of reinvention, chasing dreams and navigating the chaos of showbiz. It has irresistible songs and features a talented cast led by Kevin Coren-Michael/Dorothy, Katie Guilbeaux-Julie, Rachel Decker-Sandy and James Bradley Jr.-Jeff. Directed by Roxanne Pardi, Choreographer/Asst. Director-La Tonya Watts, Musical Director-Jess Reyes.
